Parents and Carers Invited to Shape Future SEND Benefits Advice

Feb 11, 2026

Parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are being urged to take part in a short survey that could shape how local support services help families access critical benefits. The consultation, “Your Experience Matters: Help Us Improve Support for Families Applying for SEND Benefits”, asks participants to share their experiences of applying for Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independence Payments (PIP), and the advice and support they received along the way.

Organised by Achieving for Children (AfC) on behalf of Richmond Council, the survey aims to better understand what works well and what needs improving in the local information and advice services available to families navigating the often complex benefits system. Feedback will play a direct role in improving how services are designed and delivered, helping future families to access the support they’re entitled to more easily.

Local residents have until 16 February 2026 to submit their responses online. Parents and carers can also request alternative formats, including paper copies, by contacting the consultation team.

Your voice could help shape better support for families across Richmond; take a few minutes to complete the survey and make your experience count.
