Richmond Forum

The Richmond Forum is an important self-advocacy group that is supported by Laura Turner from Richmond Mencap . Every month we hold an open meeting where we talk about important topics. In the past we have discussed things like politics, being a good citizen, transport, health, how to get a job and lots of other things that are important to us.

Recently, we have talked about Hate Crimes. This is a topic which has affected many of us and a lot of the time we don't know what to do about it or where to go to get the right kind of support. It is good to know that if we have been the victim of a Hate Crime, Richmond Mencap can support us because they are a 'Supported Reporting Centre'.

Richmond Forum is linked to the Local Learning Disability Partnership Board and our workshops talk about the agenda and we have our say, we also talk about other issues that are important to us. Lizzie Sinclair is the co-Chair of the Partnership Board and she comes along each month to feed back any news the group need to be aware of and we then feedback our views so they can be heard.
